ST. HELENS, Ore., June 13, 2016: The credit union philosophy is alive and well at St. Helens Community Credit Union, as seen in the 2016 Video Scholarship entries.
St. Helens Community offers three annual scholarships to all graduating high school seniors with a St. Helens Community membership, a minimum 3.0 GPA, acceptance at an accredited college or university, some community involvement or extracurricular activities, and the desire to create a video answering a specific question. This year’s question was, “What do you like best about being a credit union member?”
The winners of the scholarships were notified and presented with a special certificate on Friday, June 10, 2016.
The $1,500 scholarship recipient was Mark Morud who will be attending Corban University. The other two recipients will be attending University of Portland in the fall. They were Clare Kessi who received $1,000 toward school, and Natalie Muth who got $500.
“This year’s entries were exceptional and fun,” stated Brooke Van Vleet, President and CEO of St. Helens Community. “I want to thank the entire community for the wonderfully positive comments online, and for helping support these inspirational students.”
The videos, posted to the credit union’s Facebook page (facebook.com/StHelensCommunityCreditUnion), received hundreds of “Likes” and resulted in nearly 10,000 views for the credit union and the future college students.
