Notes from Brooke
For over 80 years, we’ve had the honor of serving families and small businesses throughout the community. We may have started small, but we’ve grown over the decades. Growth equals continued sustainability, and we’re fortunate that growth continued in 2019 as we embarked upon our next chapter as InRoads Credit Union.
Since adopting the name change just over a year ago, the credit union has seen a steady increase in new members. Instead of those in the community wondering if you need to live in St. Helens to join, it’s easy to understand that we serve the entire community and beyond. We’re confident this growth will continue throughout 2020 and in the years ahead.
With that growth in membership, we’ve also seen a steady increase in our overall loans and deposits. As of this writing, both loans and deposits are on track to achieve nearly double-digit growth for the year. This is a testament to the loyalty of our members, whether individuals, families or small businesses, who return to us time and again to serve their financial needs, both for savings and borrowing.
Additionally, over the past year, we donated nearly $40,000 to community organizations and non-profit groups. Thanks to members using their Team-Up for School debit cards, we delivered over $51,000 to the three local high schools last year. For the 2019/2020 school year, we’re on track to exceed that number and give even more.
If you’re unfamiliar with Team Up for Schools, it’s a program fueled by members. You can learn more about it here. Essentially, you choose your favorite local high school (Rainier, Scappoose, St. Helens), we issue you a special debit card, and then the credit union donates 5¢ to the high school each time you use it. It’s an easy way to support our local students.
Speaking of schools, I am proud to report that in 2019 we reached 671 students through financial education. In addition, our staff volunteered over 200 hours of their time throughout the community last year.
We Went LIVE in 2019
InRoads LIVE is now available at all our branch drive-thru locations as well as via the InRoads LIVE app for smartphones and tablets. This innovative new way to get your banking done puts you face-to-face with an InRoads team member who can help you transfer funds, cash checks, make deposits, and start loan applications. While the machine may look like a typical ATM, and functions that way after hours, during our extended hours of 8-6 Monday through Friday, and 9-3 Saturdays, you’ll be assisted with your transaction by a friendly InRoads employee just as with the prior drive through experience. If you haven’t tried it yet, I encourage you to go to any of our drive-thru locations and experience it for yourself. Or download the app for your phone and try it from anywhere.
