The Power of Imagination and Video

The second annual St. Helens Community Video Scholarship was a huge success. As with last year’s entries, eligible videos had to answer the question, “How do credit unions, which are built upon the philosophy of people helping people, make a positive difference in people’s lives?”

Once the three finalists were chosen, we posted their videos to the St. Helens Community Facebook page. Those videos brought in thousands of views, “Likes” and comments.

Were the Facebook interactions mostly fellow students, friends, families and neighbors of these budding directors and future college graduates? Sure. But, like anything viral, the videos took off. Even those at the credit union got in on the action, commenting and sharing the entries with everyone we knew.

Winners Announced
All three of this year’s winning entries came from Scappoose High School. The winners were Emily Muth ($1,500 scholarship), Chase Pixley ($1,000 scholarship), and Sara Tinning ($500 scholarship). St. Helens Community was there to present their scholarships at a special awards assembly.

Congratulations, Emily, Chase, and Sara. We look forward to hearing about your first year of college and watching more of your entertaining videos.
