The holiday shopping season is here (or nearly here). Now’s a great time for a refresher on debit and credit card safety — especially when it comes to online shopping.
Shop secure sites: This means looking for the https:// at the beginning of the URL in your browser.
Use strong passwords: If it’s been a while since you updated your passwords on your favorite shopping sites, now could be a good time to update them.
Use one credit card: This makes it easy for you to track everything you buy online. If you don’t recognize a charge, report it immediately.
Use secure Wi-Fi: Online shopping at home on your secure Wi-Fi connection might be fine, but shopping with an unsecure, free Wi-Fi is not. Internet access that doesn’t require a secure password could allow hackers to infiltrate your computer or watch your transactions, giving them your credit card information and passwords.
Use mobile pay options at the store: These include Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay.
Use the InRoads IN Control app: This handy, free, and easy-to-use smartphone app puts you in control of your debit and credit cards, including the ability to turn them on and off, set spending and geographic limits, and more. All in the name of fraud prevention and convenience. Click here to download IN Control.
