Linda Sprau

Linda Sprau is an artist working primarily in oil and encaustic painting. Since beginning her artistic journey in 2014, she has explored a variety of subjects, including landscapes, florals, and figurative works that celebrate the beauty of nature and the meaningful connections between people and their pets.

Inspired by the colors, textures, and rhythms of the natural world, Linda’s work seeks to capture moments of beauty, emotion, and connection. In 2025, she expanded her artistic practice to include encaustic painting, embracing the unique depth, luminosity, and tactile qualities of this ancient medium.

Encaustic painting is an ancient technique dating back to the Greeks. It consists of natural bees wax and damar resin (crystallized tree sap). The wax contains pigments and is melted and painted onto a wooden panel. Each layer is then fused to the previous layer. The paintings are extremely archival and will not melt unless temperatures exceed 150 degrees fahrenheit. Leaving them in a hot car or putting them in front of a window with direct desert-like sun is not advisable.

Linda’s artwork has been exhibited and sold through Spilt Ink Gallery and Gifts, the Beaverton Art Mix exhibitions (2020, 2021, and 2022), and The Real Deal Gift Store (2020–2024). Through her paintings, she hopes to bring warmth, joy, and a sense of connection to those who experience her work.

The Westside Artists

For thirty-four years, the Westside Artists Critique Group has fostered a spirit of creativity, encouragement, and mutual support among its members. United by a shared passion for painting and a commitment to artistic growth, the group has developed lasting friendships as well as a strong tradition of excellence.

To celebrate two decades together as a cohesive painting group, the artists traveled to Lucca, Italy, where they rented a villa in the heart of Tuscany. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, historic architecture, and the rich culture of the region, they found endless inspiration for their work. The beauty of the countryside, vibrant city scenes, and memorable culinary experiences became the subjects of numerous paintings created during and after the trip.

The artwork on display represents the talents of Westside artists Rene Eisenbart, Kay Gifford, Didi Nowers, Linda Nye, Judi Weigandt, Chris Helton, Colleen Humphrey, Debbie Marble, and Jeannine Miller. While each artist has developed a distinctive style and approach, all have earned recognition for their accomplishments, receiving awards and honors for their artwork. Their diverse works come together in this exhibition as a celebration of artistic achievement, friendship, and the enduring strength of a creative community built over more than three decades.
