Making Sense of the Missing Cents

The phaseout of penny production and challenges with circulating existing pennies have created a bit of uncertainty for financial institutions across the country. As pennies become more and more scarce, we’ve had to make some changes to your change.

• Rolled penny requests are now limited to business members only.
• There is a $5 weekly limit per business for penny requests.

Once our stock of pennies is gone, we’ll no longer be able to provide change in anything less than 5-cent increments. The hope is that changes will be made at the federal level to ensure Americans are not shortchanged. In the meantime, InRoads is doing what we can to make the transition to a world without pennies as easy as possible.
