While nobody likes to think about it, holiday scams are a real thing. And the best way to avoid them is to protect yourself. We’ve put together a few tips that could help you avoid some of the more common ones.
- Shop secure sites. This means looking for the https:// at the beginning of the URL in your browser.
- Use strong passwords. If it’s been a while since you updated your passwords on your favorite shopping sites, now could be a good time to update them.
- Use one credit card. This makes it easy for you to track everything you buy online. If you don’t recognize a charge, report it immediately.
- Shop with security. Using a chip-enabled card is a good idea, but so are mobile pay options such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay.
