InRoads Employees Donate in Blood Drive
ST. HELENS, Ore., September 28, 2021: As part of its monthly Random Acts of Kindness, InRoads Credit Union hosted the Red Cross bloodmobile on September 28, at its St. Helens administration building. Thirty participants, including InRoads employees and their family members, gave blood during the workday.
Because the credit union and its employees are always looking for opportunities to give back to the community, hosting a blood drive made perfect sense.
“They say that every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood,” stated InRoads Credit Union President/CEO, Brooke Van Vleet when asked why the credit union hosted an employee blood drive. “Lifesaving care can start with just one person making a donation. This blood drive helped make that happen.”
According to the Red Cross, blood donations for whole blood, red cells, platelets, or plasma, are vital for surgeries, cancer treatments, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.
InRoads Credit Union employees and their families were proud to donate to the Red Cross, including Addison Hiatt, LIVE Teller Supervisor at InRoads Credit Union.
“This was such an easy and worthwhile thing to do,” Hiatt said. “This is a great way to help out the community and do something good for those around me.”
American Red Cross (redcross.org) shelters, feeds and provides comfort to victims of disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission.
